Newport Reservoirs Fly Fishing Association

Newsletter 2010

C hairman's Message

Dear Members,

As is customary, I would like to wish all members a happy New Year.
In reviewing the past season, it seems reasonable to comment on a good catch return, i.e. 6000 plus fish (5000 plus from the bottom pond and 1000 from the top pond), and on the excellent sales of Day Tickets as indicated in the financial information provided at the A.G.M.
I feel sure that the revival of the fortnightly stocking policy, plus an excellent website, which provided regular reports on the fish caught, flies and techniques, contributed greatly to the on-going reputation of Ynys-y-Fro as a quality fishery.
I therefore thank, on behalf of all members, the 2009 Committee for their hard work throughout the season.
Insofar as 2010 is concerned, your new committee will endeavour to maintain existing high standards, in providing good fishing at extremely low cost to both members and visitors.

I look forward to meeting many of you at our annual social evening and around the banks of Ynys-Y-Fro

                                      Tight Lines,

                                                          Adrian Connor.

Fish Stocking

As members have been so happy with the quality of the fish stocked, Steve will be continuing to order fish from the same two suppliers as last season.

Important Announcement - The committee wishes to acknowledge the sterling work done in the past by Mr. Roy Morris and other past members in taking this association forward to where it is today.

Flies for 2010

Fly Tying

This year, the fly tying evenings have been led by Steve Kean.

If you wish to tie flies in readiness for the forthcoming season in a sociable setting, or if you would just enjoy a pint and a chat, you are welcome to join us on at 7.30pm on Friday evenings at Risca Rugby Club.

There are always a number of experienced members present who are happy to assist beginners. A small fee of £1 per evening is charged to cover costs.
